Dan is a chartered town planner and associate member of the institute of legal executives. He is the company Director (owner) and lead adviser. Drawing on more than a decade of experience in industry, both as a planning consultant in the private sector and as a local authority planning officer, Dan established County Planning Ltd in 2018.
His experience, amongst other things, includes:
leading the town planning department of Knights PLC’s Cheshire Office in Wilmslow, setting the strategic direction of the team together with advising on, preparing and progressing a wide range of planning matters throughout Cheshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Yorkshire.
leading the Environment Agency’s participation on technically complex, high-risk statutory planning applications, appeals and Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects across five local authority areas in the north-west.
sitting on a panel of experts to provide technical support, strategic guidance and advice to the 180,000 strong member British Mountaineering Council’s Access, Conservation and Environment Group and the National Council on Town Planning and Landscape issues .
Outside work, Dan has a young family which keeps him occupied with evening and weekend activities. When he’s not with his family, he is an avid outdoor enthusiast and spends his free time rock climbing and hiking in the UK and abroad. He is also an accomplished landscape photographer, having won national competitions and had his images appear in national newspapers in addition to shooting photo assignments for Canon and outdoor brand Ellis Brigham (see www.danmatthewman.com)
